Trek FAQs

#Answers you are looking for

Spring (end of March to mid-April) and Autumn (late September to early November) are the ideal times for the Goechala trek, each providing a distinct experience.

The Goechala trek spans 85 km round-trip from Yuksom, with a significant elevation gain of nearly 10,000 feet. At ViewPoint 1 (15,100 ft), you’ll get up close to the southwest face of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest mountain.

The Goechala trek is challenging due to its long, steep climbs and rapid altitude gain. It spans 10 days, ascending from 5,840 ft to 15,100 ft, a total gain of nearly 10,000 ft. This ascent poses risks of altitude sickness, especially beyond Dzongri where exits are limited. It’s crucial to monitor your body’s response to altitude carefully throughout the trek.

Small eateries or dhabas are available in Tshoka, Dzongi and Thangsing. Carrying water is recommended, though there are a few natural sources. Always purify or treat water before drinking.
