Trek FAQs

#Answers you are looking for

Kang Yatse II is considered a challenging trekking peak, while Kang Yatse I is a technical mountaineering expedition. Both require excellent physical fitness. Kang Yatse I demands roping up, crampons, and ice axe usage. Kang Yatse II is suitable for seasoned trekkers aiming for their first 6,000-meter peak.

Kang Yatse I is harder than Kang Yatse II. It has a steeper route, crevasses, and requires roping and technical climbing skills. Kang Yatse II, while still demanding, is doable for trekkers with prior high-altitude experience and good fitness. Choose based on your readiness and skill level.

The best time is between mid-June to mid-September. During these months, the weather is stable, skies are clearer, and snow conditions are manageable. Monsoon rains don’t affect Ladakh as much, making it ideal for Himalayan expeditions like Kang Yatse.

Kang Yatse II stands at 6,250 meters (20,505 ft), while Kang Yatse I is taller and more technical at 6,400 meters (20,997 ft). Both peaks offer stunning views of Zanskar, Karakoram, and even K2 on clear days. These are among the most scenic climbs in Ladakh.

You need to be in excellent shape. Start training at least 2 months prior. Focus on cardio, leg strength, endurance, and practice long walks with a loaded backpack. The fitter you are, the easier it is to acclimatize and perform well on both Kang Yatse I and II.

Yes, proper acclimatization days are included in Leh, Nimaling, and Base Camp. For Kang Yatse I, an additional rest and training day is given at Advanced Base Camp. These breaks help your body adapt gradually and lower the risk of altitude-related issues.

Yes, both Kang Yatse I & II have snow zones, especially near the summit. Kang Yatse I includes glacier sections and crevasses. Depending on snowfall, you may need to rope up. Our guides will provide all necessary training and ensure safety on both routes.

We carry first-aid kits, oxygen cylinders, and have trained guides for emergencies. If evacuation is needed, we coordinate mules or vehicles from nearest accessible points. In serious cases, we arrange immediate transfer to Leh. Your safety is always our top priority.

Climbing Kang Yatse I and II requires special permits and environment clearance. Montaxe takes care of all permits and local documentation. You just need to carry valid ID proof (Aadhar, passport) and passport-size photos for verification during the process.

In Leh, you stay in clean, comfortable guesthouses. On the trek, we use high-quality tents—two people per tent—with sleeping bags and mats provided. Meals are hot and hygienic, and campsites are chosen for safety and great views of Ladakh’s landscapes.
